Moving C-plot Seafarer installation from one computer to another
Copying a seafarer install to a new computer which has a installation of C-plot.
A) Copy these directories to the same location on new computer.
C:Seafarer.db
C:cplot95 mqchart
C:cplot95C_permit
This should copy over the Seafarer charts, the seafarer permits, and the user data, and default data.
When this is copied,
B) Start C-plot.
C) Wait for the menu to come up.
D) Then Main menu, Chart, Config, HCRF.
E) Select the new Seafarer database to be C:
F) You should then be able to edit the permits, and check the permits are there, If they are not there, then something is wrong.
G) Store the chart pin number, tick on the little box on the bottom left. This should be on laminated sheet.
H) When you click on the exit / ok button, it should then ask you to accept the agreement.
i) If this stuffs up you will see a little yellow box. Oh well you will to install from original disks
J) Exit out of C-plot.
M) I would suggest updating the communication server for C-plot.
N) Bring up my computer, and rename the folder C: mq_c_com to C: mq_c_com2
O) Then download and run http://www.c-trak.net/ctrak/CcomBeta4.zip
P) I am guessing from the description that the GPS maybe a GPS 158 usb Sanjose.
Download a driver from the cDROM or use,
Q) http://www.bafo.com/download/2007_download/BF-810/810_98ME2KXP_v1.6.zip
R) When you plug in the antenna for the first time, windows thinks it is a mouse. If not, restart your computer.
S) If you can, go start, run, C:cplot95skipenum.exe
T) If not, run c-plot.
U) Then unplug the mouse or gps acting as a mouse. And replug it, it should go away, otherwise you have to go to device manager, and somehow disable the serial ballpoint mouse, Give yourself about 10 minutes to do it this way. You will get it.
V) Unfortunately windows is smarter than the average duck. But we will get to that later.
W) Bring up device manager, (right click on my computer, go to hardware, then to device manager) see what port the prolific usb to serial adaptor is on, (it should be within Com1 . Com8) . If not, go to properties, portsettings, advanced and change it to a more logical number. Unplug and replug and it should accept that logical number.
X) Start C-plot, go menu, system, com port config. Go to serial setup and enable the port that you saw in the device manager.
Then go to input configuration and set up, position 1, date, time, cog(T) sog to the comport that you saw.
Y) You should then see the gps data in the NMEA Data tab of the communication server. If you only see time, move the gps outside to get a latitude longitude.
Z) Ok, now back to the smart windows, if it all works, shut down the computer and restart, most likely windows will have taken the comport you just installed for it.s own use. Otherwise, go to part (W) and change the comport. Reset up the communication server to this new comport as per X and Y.
